β€œShe invited Chase over via text message, and his shoes were on before he finished reading it. All he had to see pop up on his phone was β€œCambridge Steph (new), and he was gone. He could still feel his pulse through the black eye he got the night before. It was 4:15 pm, and he had just gotten out of the shower. He usually got up around 8:30 am, but he had covered for his friend Denis at the bar the night before. Denis had gotten Chase the job bouncing at The Rattlesnake downtown, the apartment they shared, and three misdemeanors. Denis was also the one who got Chase put down in their local gang of skinheads. But Chase was far from a victim. This seemed to be his natural progression since moving to the city. Chase had grown up in the suburbs about an hour north and had been committing violent crimes with his friends for years long before he met Denis or even knew that crews existed among punk bands.”
